What to do when your search does not return the result you are looking for?
  • Does the author you are looking for have a middle name? You can try searching their name including the middle initial, e.g., try "Jane A. Smith" instead of "Jane Smith".
  • Does the author have an accented character in their name? Try to use the accented characters in your search. OpenAlex currently does not return results for names with accented characters when the name is searched without the accented characters. We have a function running behind for such conversions, but it can fall short in some cases.
Why is there a discrepancy between the number of papers of an author in the search results and the metrics table in his page?
The number of papers shown in search results include all papers, while the one shown in the metrics table only includes the publications with an assigned DOI. Our analysis relies only on publications with a DOI.
